This figure recreate one of one more modern service of the Civil Guard, the Maritime Service or Civil Guard of the Sea (Guardia Civil del Mar) SEMAR for his initials, is the unit of the civil guard tasked of the watch of the territorials seas of Spain.
Was create the 22 of February of 1991 and from 1997 incorporated the diving unit of the corps the Unidad Actividades Subacuáticas (Diving Activities Unit) UAS what was founded in 1981.
Is organized in a high command in Madrid in the building of the general direction of the corps and in 22 territorial services along the spanish coast, the UAS and his central unit with 18 special groups of divers specialized in risk immersion. All the the service is command by a colonel.
